Baldrick does Ballistics"I have a cunning plan M'lord. I have mounted an eBay 3MOA Red Dot sight on my SKS:Range Height MOA Yards Inches Angle ------- ------- ------- __0 -2.50 n/a _31 -0.95 -3 <-Bottom of red dot _50 -0.33 -0.5 100 0.00 0 <-Top of red dot 140 -1.25 -0.75 160 -2.44 -1.5 180 -4.03 -2.25 200 -6.06 -3 <-Bottom of red dot 220 -8.55 -3.75
I used the top of the red dot as my zero at 100 yards, so the bottom of the red dot works as a point of aim at 200 yards. Between 31 yards and 200 yards I can shoot into a 3MOA circle, 3" at 100 yards, 6" at 200 yards. Also, my Point Blank Range program says with a 196 yard zero I can shoot out to 227 yards with all the shots within +/- 3". Range Height MOA ------- ------- ------- __0 -2.50 0 _40 0.52 1.25 _80 2.40 2.75 120 2.99 2.5 160 2.15 1.25 200 -0.33 -0.25 226 -2.91 -1.25 So I can shoot deer humanely out to 227 yards with my SKS, without range adjustments." "That would explain the herd of one-eyed, three-legged deer outside your hovel, Baldrick." "It would indeed, my lord." Inexplicably, Baldrick's maths and graphics are correct. But he makes one tiny assumption, which is of course, wrong.
Pause thoughtfully, then proceed to Baldrick's Blunder
